sligo language - english language holidays for teenagers

Sligo Language is a small, family-run business which is located in the beautiful countryside in the north-west of Ireland. There are two houses on the farm, Kelly and Colum live in one house and Kelly’s parents, Marie and Gerald, live in the other one.  The farm is only 30 minutes from the coast which offers some of the nicest beaches in Ireland.

Gerald and Kelly are at home with the students every day while Marie and Colum are at work. Gerald is a farmer and Kelly is a qualified teacher. Spending time abroad working as an English language assistant developed Kelly’s interest in teaching English as a foreign language. This, mixed with her and her dad’s passion for farming and the help from Marie and Colum, made it possible to develop the family business.

On the farm, there are horses, sheep, hens, two alpacas, a pet pig and two loyal dogs, Marley and his son, Bob, who love having visitors! There are two houses on the farm and located between them is a large sand arena where students can ride the horses.

There is a very relaxed and informal atmosphere on the farm. Visitors are made to feel at home from the moment they start their farm stay holiday.

Staying on a farm in Ireland really is a great way to learn English as you will be completely immersed in the language. Studies show that successful foreign language learning occurs in a natural environment rather than in a classroom. Therefore, by incorporating English through real life activities, students are unconsciously learning whilst enjoying themselves.

Students aged between 10 and 16 years old are welcome. If you would like to improve your English and experience life on an Irish farm then this is the language holiday for you!
